SLM Solutions Group Opens Applications and Demonstration Center in Lübeck, Germany

SLM Solutions Group AG, the provider of metal-based additive manufacturing technologies, just unveiled a new applications and demonstration center with the mayor of Lübeck, Bernd Saxe, as well as some 200 invited guests in attendance at the SLM Solutions headquarters in Germany.

International distributors from more than 30 countries, along with a group of politicians and representatives of Economic Development-Lübeck, were informed of the technical knowledge and training support the new center is expected to provide anyone exploring additive processes meant for production environments.

SLM says this center will be used for technical presentations, training, and hands-on demonstrations of the entire line of Selective Laser Melting systems like the company’s SLM 125HL, SLM 280HL, and SLM500HL systems.

The site is also set up to allow for the production of component parts in a test-center environment and the demonstration of new applications and technologies as they’re introduced to the market.

Dr. Markus Rechlin, the CEO of SLM Solutions, says the center better positions the company to speedily respond to customer demand for specific sample parts.

“Our new demonstration center for SLM technology is another milestone in the rapid development of our company,” Rechlin said.

SLM Solutions says they’ve invested some $5.3 million in this 1,640-square-foot center, and that figure includes a variety of their machines along with manual and automatic powder sieving and material handling systems.

Stefan Ritt, the Head of Global Marketing and Communications for SLM Solutions, says the new center was built to support the company’s approach to the development of additive manufacturing solutions. He says the center will be used to demonstrate to customers with strict requirements that his company’s technology will give them a competitive market advantage.

“SLM systems and technology are used today in the automotive, medical, energy and aerospace industries worldwide,” Ritt said. “Our activities are focused in the consulting, training and customer acceptance of sold systems.”

SLM Solutions shares are traded in the Prime Standard of the Frankfurt Stock Exchange, and the company is focused on the development, assembly, and sale of devices and integrated system solutions for selective laser melting, vacuum, and metal casting.

The company employs more than 100 people in Germany and the US who build products used in the aerospace, energy, healthcare, and automotive industries.
