NVBOTS, the 3D printer manufacturing company founded by a group of MIT graduates, say they’ve secured a $2 million seed funding round led by domestic and international investors.
Additional leadership milestones only add to the impressive recent announcements, including COO Chris Haid being named to Forbes‘ list of 30 Under 30 Leaders in Manufacturing. The company was founded by AJ Perez, Forrest Pieper, Mateo Peña Doll, and Haid.

Dr. Michael Foley, a manufacturing expert, MIT faculty member, and former CEO of Reflexite, will join the board of directors of the company, and NVBOTS say the funds will be used to support business development and NVPro production.
“NVBOTS is delivering on the promise of 3D printing unlike any other company, by empowering young innovators with the proven 3D printing capabilities needed to turn their ideas into reality,” Foley said. “The NVBOTS team is passionate about making 3D printing accessible to everyone, regardless of background, and I am proud to help them deliver on their vision.”
The NVPro 3D printer features end-to-end 3D printing and automated part removal, and when paired with the NVBOTS cloud-based interface, the NVPro can run continuously from any device.
NVBOTS also says their printer aids educators by providing educational modules designed with Common Core Standards and Next Generation Science Standards in mind.

In July 2014, NVBOTS launched an equity crowdfunding campaign for what they say describe as “the first fully automated, cloud-connected 3D printer.” Since then, the Boston startup says they’ve focused on providing 3D printers to schools.
While the funding came from domestic and international investors, they were not named specifically.
NVBOTS is headquartered in Boston, MA, and their cloud-connected printer enables users to wirelessly print at any time, and from any device. It also includes a live video feed for checking print job status and a patent-pending robotic arm which removes objects as they’re finished.
The printer allows users to print from a computer, tablet, or smartphone, and features automatic part removal, a built-in camera, and a cloud-based web browser interface. NVBOTS has also released several educational modules like a spectroscope project, a Rube Goldberg Machine project, and a 3D design project which lets students learn how to design with the assistance of CAD software.
