And they are delivering, with just-announced expansions to their ASA thermoplastic material line with 8 new color options and to the PolyJet technology with 20 new Digital Materials.
In September, Stratasys introduced their new FDM material, ASA, in ivory and black. While those are great base options, they knew that the time had come to expand the line, and so now eight more colors are available. With a material like ASA — which offers UV-resistant, durable prints with a matte finish and impressive surface finish — more options are certainly welcome, and sure to go over well among consumers. With these newly introduced colors, ASA now has more options available, color-wise, than any other FDM material.
The ASA line is now available, in addition to ivory and black, in:
- Red
- Orange
- Yellow
- Green
- Dark blue
- White
- Dark gray
- Light gray
ASA materials are compatible with FDM systems including Stratasys’ Fortus line of performance machines: the Fortus 360mc and 400 mc, 380mc and 450mc, and 900mc. All of these machines specify compatibility with ASA materials with the notation that it is available “in 10 colors for great mechanical strength, UV stability and the best aesthetics.” Suggested uses for ASA thermoplastics include prototyping and finished products in such industries as outdoor/sporting, electrical, automotive, and toys. These new colors aren’t Stratasys’ only expanded line today, though. They are enhancing their PolyJet technology with new materials combining Endur with other components in their Digital Materials line — with 20 new offerings. These two-component new offerings will provide a wider range of rigidity levels for rapid prototyping.
“By introducing Endur Digital Materials, we are giving customers more flexibility and versatility to 3D print durable prototypes,” said director of product management for PolyJet consumables Boaz Jacobi. “It’s a superior PolyJet solution for living-hinge and snap-fit applications.”
Endur materials can produce thin walls
Endur Digital Materials are able to be used in creating thin walls, as well as other thinner components like hinges, moving parts, snap-fits, and assemblages to create objects as varied as CD cases, containers, gaskets, handles, and soles of shoes. These materials are specified for use with Objet Connex 3D printers including the Objet EdenV and EdenVS, Objet Connex systems, Objet30 Prime, and Objet30 Pro. Endur offers a broad range of material properties, which can be inspected in the official spec sheet.
Among the 20 new options available, there will be 8 new shades (6 shades of gray, 2 shades of white); 12 offering a range of Shore A values; 6 bringing together Endur and TangoBlackPlus; and 6 combining Endur and TangoPlus.
