Targeted toward image content owners, producers, and licensors, Zverse’s new Layr app was just announced. Layr will “automatically convert your 2D content into incredible full color 3D printed products.”
“Our mission from day one,” said ZVerse’s Co-Founder and CMO Kevin Maloney, “was to solve the content problem facing 3D printing by creating software to convert meaningful 2D content that already exists into 3D printable content. In 2014, we successfully demonstrated this with our licensed content business utilizing Layr.”
South Carolina-based Zverse was founded in 2013 and has been on a roll of rapid growth since then. In 20
“Our growing portfolio of licensing partners has allowed us to bring together vast libraries of 2D content and easily make this content 3D printable,” said Maloney. “Our partnership with BrandFuel, a leader in the promotional products industry, demonstrates the Layr application bringing 3D printing to the world of 2D content.”
Layr is intended for use by entities as small as a few-person operation in a rented office space all the way up to Fortune 100 companies — and according to ZVerse, Layr-powered applications have already been used by just this spectrum
Partner BrandFuel seems to also be enthused about the scope of potential that Layr represents. BrandFuel’s president, Danny Rosin, noted:
“The Layr Application from ZVerse converts any 2D content into limitless full color 3D printed content. This is revolutionary because it produces highly customized products with fast turnarounds for premium gift recognition. Today, the promotional products market is a $20 billion industry and I think ZVerse is going to shake some things up.”
This new app from ZVerse sounds incredibly promising, and we’re looking forward to seeing it in action. The implications for an ease of turning 2D content into 3D printable files are pretty big, especially in the marketing field. I know I’d be much more likely to remember a company that gave me a cool, 3D printed anything more than I would someone who gave me another business card or sticker I’d probably throw out in the next bin I’d pass.
