One such company, founded last year, called Pirx 3D, seems to be on the fast-track to success. Based in Kraków, Poland, the small company has been producing their wood-paneled Pirx 3D Printer for some time now. Today, however, they’ve stepped things up a level or two, announcing a more robust, sleek looking machine called the PIRX One.
The PIRX One remains affordable, like its predecessor, but manages to integrate a variety of new valuable features into its sleek, but sturdy frame.
“PIRX One has a rigid frame, made of steel. Just like a battleship,” jokes the company.
All joking aside, the frame of a 3D printer like this is tremendously important, as the sturdier it is, the less that vibration and shake will affect its output. Besides its sturdy frame, the PIRX One features a Q Sensor system, which eliminates the need for calibration and bed leveling, making the print process easy and less time consuming.
These features are all great, but this machine’s standout feature is probably its precision. The company utilizes custom made linear guides as well as a high performance trapezoid screw to realize 10 micron precision. Additionally, the PIRX One has the following general specifications:
- Print Technology: FFF
- Build Envelope: 210 x 270 x 210 mm
- Layer Height: 0.05 – 0.03 mm
- Nozzle Diameter: 0.4mm
- Connectivity: USB, SD card
- Filament Type and Size: PLA, Nylon, PS, Laywood, Ninjaflex at 1.75mm (ABS for the upgraded version, discussed below)
- Other: LCD interface, high speed printing
The PIRX One comes in two different models, the 1.1 and 1.2. The only difference between the two, besides the price, is the inclusion of a heated bed on the 1.2, which allows for the printing of ABS thermoplastic. The printers are available for order immediately on the company’s website, and the PIRX One 1.1 and PIRX One 1.2 are priced at $1,200 and $1,400, respectively.
