Luxion’s KeyShot is a perfect example, and for those who have not been heavily involved in 3D design or 3D printing, looking at what you can do with the program is mindblowing. So you want to design a watch? Enter the basic design into KeyShot, and go from a basic outline to a beautifully crafted, complete concept in just minutes.
“We are reimagining the engineer’s desktop with our complete line up of solurtions for scan-based design, mechanical design and haptic-enabled freeform design,” said Calvin Hur, VP and GM of Geomagic Solutions at 3D Systems. “Engineers will love having KeyShot’s world-class rendering as part of their Geomagic software.”
The software allows you to create impressive renderings of your product which can then in full color be exported to the 3DS ProJet x60 line of color jet printers, with designs becoming reality. The prototypes can then be used as models to share with clients, as well as items to be used in collaborations with colleagues.
“With 3D Systems’ seamless workflow from physical to digital to print creating product visuals can now easily be done throughout that entire process.” Says Claus Wann Jensen, CEO and Co-founder at Luxion. “When users need visual representations of their scan, design, modifications or 3D print, KeyShot provides the quality they expect.”
3DS is offering the rendering solution as a bundled option for Geomagic Design users, as KeyShot for Geomagic Design. An upgrade is also available for $199 through 3DS. You will have the option to choose between 32-bit or 64-bit versions of KeyShot on Windows or Mac, which allows you to import your product easily and quickly as it is compatible with most formats and offers several plugins. For ‘painting’ your model, there are a whopping 700 materials with which to create your product and then have the reward of checking it out immediately in terms of material, color, finish, and lighting.
With the advent of 3D design software like KeyShot, combined with the innovation of 3D printing, a breath of fresh air is flowing into the world of design, allowing for a latitude of choices and creativity that result in precise, quality models.
