This laser allows users to cut high-density plywood and wood as well as cutting MDF, something that was not so easy to achieve with only diode lasers.
Occasionally, makers may face problems cutting wood or plywood; even when they have the same thickness that they’ve cut in the past. This is because the wood or plywood might have a different density.
Diode lasers can easily cut 3-4 mm wood and plywood with densities less than 0.5 g/ cm^3. However, to cut thicker and higher density wood, it likely needs an air nozzle. It is quite easy to make an air nozzle yourself. See here for instructions.

One handy do-it-yourself possibility is to cut some high-density materials with a lower power laser in a sealed chamber filled with a carbon dioxide:
Some might say that you can buy a CO2 laser system for the same amount as you need to spend on a laser diode itself; however, there are some pros and cons when it comes to comparing a diode and CO2 laser system.
