3D Systems Announces Their Capture Mini 3D Scanner Offering Smaller Size with Greater Accuracy

If you are at EuroMold 2014 this week, you better be taking your vitamins and getting your sleep the night before, as it is going to be an all-out extravaganza with a vast array of new products, details, and concepts for your technological-loving soul to devour.

One exciting item of many on display at EuroMold by 3D Systems is the Capture Mini, which has just been released for availability by 3DS today. Are you looking for accurate scanning, and results, directly from your desktop? This smaller scanner features an even more powerful punch with accuracy in scanning, designing and inspecting small objects. A miniature version of the previously released Geomagic Capture system, the Mini is more economical, precise, and user-friendly.

“Capture Mini gives our customers yet another option to begin their journey through the digital thread,” said Calvin Hur, Vice President and General Manager, Geomagic Solutions, 3DS. “This is an easy, highly precise way to begin bringing the real world into digital design packages, then creating objects, 3D printing them, and scanning them for fidelity to CAD designs. It opens the door for creating 3D content of all kinds.”

Designers can use the blue LED structured-light scanning technology to scan in small objects and use the designs to go on to create new projects and designs. They also have to ability to inspect products and check quality against CAD designs, heading off problems and flaws at the pass. The scanner sits on the desktop and is portable. The Capture Mini features:

The new mini-scanner is designed for industries like automotive, aerospace, product design, mechanical, jewelry, dental appliances and more. The Capture Mini allows quality, small object scanning at nearly 1 million points per scan in a speedy .3 seconds. It can also work in combination with the Capture Pro Pack, which includes a powered rotary table for automated 360-degree scanning, as well as the Geomagic Capture multi-scanner setup for multi-scanning that is coordinated and efficient.

3DS will be displaying all their latest technology at EuroMold 2014 from November 25 through 28, 2014, at the Messe Frankfurt in booths D69 and F90 in hall 11.
