Royal DSM & Shapeways Partner: Developing & Customizing Scalable 3D Printing Solutions

While many different organizations have the lofty mission of changing the world, businesses like Royal DSM put their words, and their plans, into impressive action. Now, the Netherlands-headquartered global company continues its scientific focus on international sustainability—with a deepening interest in 3D printing—signified by their recent announcement that they will be teaming up with Shapeways to continue developing new solutions.

Forging ahead to provide better solutions in nutrition, health, and sustainable living, Royal DSM will now work with Shapeways to continue creating a 3D printing ecosystem. It’s understandable why these two international companies would pair up as DSM offers a wide range of innovative materials, and Shapeways is an undeniable leader in 3D printing platforms. Shapeways also brings plentiful resources to this collaboration with its own proprietary technology.

While DSM is a substantial force on their own, it is obvious to see that Shapeways will complement their ongoing ambitions with a range of progressive offerings. The DSM team will have countless benefits in working with the New York City-headquartered Shapeways, along with enjoying the ability to print on demand. Through this partnership, they will be offering ‘DSM Powered by Shapeways,’ promising customers access to DSM high-performance materials and other 3D printing techniques.

“DSM’s partnership with Shapeways will allow DSM to grow its additive manufacturing ecosystem bringing customers fast, easy access to 3D printing materials and technology,” said Hugo da Silva, VP Additive Manufacturing at DSM. “Shapeways’ innovative product creation solutions will greatly impact the way our customers are scaling additive manufacturing solutions and experiencing new technologies.”

This partnership was announced recently at Formnext, held in Frankfurt from November 19-22, along with a variety of different collaborations between technology companies and others offering support in hardware, software, and materials. In their latest press release sent to 3DPrint.com, the two companies state that they will be making more announcements regarding this partnership in the near future.

“We at Shapeways believe that the power of additive manufacturing and simplified product creation increases scalability and greatly enhances traditional manufacturing solutions,” said Greg Kress, CEO at Shapeways. “By collaborating with DSM, a highly esteemed science-based company, Shapeways’ B2B solutions will continue to scale the accessibility of 3D printing across a multitude of sectors.”

Both companies are extremely dynamic within the 3D printing realm. Royal DSM continues to make enormous strides in developing new solutions, releasing new materials, and partnering with resellers. Shapeways has also continued to offer more for other businesses, along with launching an e-commerce platform for Etsy shopowners, creating customized jewelry selections, and more.
