It’s really quite incredible what 3D printing is allowing the human imagination to come up with. Whereas in the past artists were limited by what they could build with given materials, the capabilities of 3D printing are allowing virtually any idea within the mind of an artist to be realized via digital manufacturing with thermoplastics and other materials.
Design and marketing companies are also loving this new technology, as it allows them to think outside the box to create amazing new pieces for their clients. One such design and marketing company, called Piloci, teamed recently with Poland-based 3D printer manufacturer Zortrax to to create quite an amazing piece for Zortrax’s grand opening of their first, and subsequently Poland’s first, 3D printer store which is located in Kraków, Poland.
Piloci has had an idea for an LED-illuminated display wall for over a year now, but until they met with Zortrax, had no means of actually creating it. Zortrax, which has created a reputation as a leader in high quality, highly precise FFF 3D printers, was the perfect partner in this project.
The project is called ‘Mappingwall’ and was built with 332 individual 3D printed pyramids. The pyramids were fabricated on Zortrax M200 machines, using transparent filament and
The Mappingwall was officially unveiled to the public at the Zortrax Kraków store grand opening last month to the amazement of customers and the media, who were given a free show. As you can see in the video below, the lighting effects are quite remarkable, and when combined with the video mapping technology can put on quite the display.
Zortrax plans to continue to expand upon this uniquely 3D pri
