This has become a daily question in my household, almost synonymous with looking for the ever-missing car keys or the reading glasses. With several children who simply cannot live without them either, however, earbuds have become an odd life essential—and one that is constantly being borrowed (hygiene, I know!), bickered over, or bought. Again and again.
Brainwavz, known for producing high-quality headphones and earbuds, is moving toward the use of 3D printing for their products now too, beginning with the launch of their B400 model. Using liquid resin 3D printing technology, the Brainwavz team is able to produce a new style of ‘earphone’ with an innovative shape. This would not be possible without the benefits of 3D printing, as the designers at Brainwavz learned upon attempting to make them with liquid injection molds initially.
“The B400 plays host to some of the finest drivers around. But this is only half the story, our unique 3D modeling and printing systems have enabled us to constantly design, test, and hone the B400,” states the Brainwavz team on their website. “3D modeling and printing means we can innovate faster and experiment more, enabling us to create a unique system that lets the Balanced Armatures perform above and beyond expectations.”
The B400s include the following:
- Four different, balanced armature drivers on each side of the earphones, providing varying sound
- Comprehensive frequency range of 10Hz to 40kHz
- Gold-plated MMCX detachable cables (in both 2.5 and 3.5mm) for connecting to a wide range of devices from smartphones to gaming platforms
“Brainwavz B400 are unique in many ways, but one standout feature is how they are made. The main shells are printed using state-of-the-art liquid Resin 3D printers, enabling a shape not possible by normal manufacturing methods,” states the team.
