MadeSolid, a California-based company, has been developing advanced materials for 3D printers since it was founded in 2013. Following in-house research and development, MadeSolid offers new, advanced materials for sale on its website for use in SLA 3D printers.
MadeSolid has introduced its new V2 MS resin for use in 3D printers. The company’s base resin has been available in four colors (red, white, blue, and black) and now, following months of development, is available in formulations to which several updates have been made to all four colors.
Reformulated black MS resin caused 6 times less clouding than the original formulation in a vat-based 3D printer.
The resins have been updated in three principal ways, each of which has significant benefits based on consumer feedback. The company’s announcement of its V2 line focused on the resins’ higher detail, sharper colors, and the fact that they are better suited for 3D printer resin vats.
The reformulations started first with MadeSolid’s black resin, which was re-released in August with higher detail and resin vat improvements, that followed months of research and testing following feedback from real world users. By listening to their customers, MadeSolid’s innovative team was able to improve its resin, both in final form and for use in machinery.
In addition to improving the performance of the 3D printer as the resin runs through it — which MadeSolid tested by simulating regular printing via printing 100 micron bars, each 800 layers tall, on several 3D vat-based printers — the reformulation enhanced the printing resolution of final products. While the original formula was already one of the sharpest available on the market, the updated resin blew all expectations out of the water.
All of these updates to the black MS resin were made without changes to the quality or price level that MadeSolid’s customers had come to expect, and remained compatible across several 3D printing machines.
Next up, clearly, the other three colors!
Having devoted months of development into the black resins, it only took two months before all four colors of MS resins became available in superior formulations. By mid-October, red, white, and blue MS resins had caught up, and all four received the MS V2 label.
MadeSolid listens to its customers; that much is clear! By listening to customer feedback, the company improved the vibrancy of the red and blue resins, leading to richer hues that are able to bring out fine printing details and lead to more professional appearances in finished products.
