Lewihe ‘Sneaker’ 3D Printer Announced – Will be Unveiled at 3D Print Show in Paris This Week

Back in July, we announced that a Spanish-based company, founded by Juan Tendero, Jordi Tendero and Jose Manuel Quiles, would launch a new 3D printer, capable of printing Filaflex filament at speeds faster than any known desktop machine on the market. The printer known only as ‘Lewihe’ at the time, was priced affordably at 599€ ($815) and used a core XY system of printing.  Then back in August, the company decided to turn to crowdfunding platform Indiegogo, in an effort to raise $60,000 to further their production capabilities via a flexible funding campaign.  In doing so, they raised a little over $11,000 which they were able to utilize to expand their capabilities, despite not reaching their ultimate goal.

Here we are, a couple months later and we just got word that a new 3D printer would be unveiled by the company at the 3D Print Show in Paris this weekend, October 17-18. The printer, called the Lewihe Sneaker, is also based on the same core XY technology seen in the company’s other machines, but is larger than their prior printers. Built on an aluminum alloy chassis, the Sneaker is a large, sturdy, fast printer, which is affordably priced. Below you will find some of the general specifications of this new machine.

Additionally, there is an optional camera (with 320 x 240 resolution) for those of you wishing to monitor your prints remotely from a phone, computer or tablet, as well as an option for WiFi connectivity.

According to the company, the Lewihe Sneaker will be available starting in December of this year, just in time for the holidays. It will be priced at 1490 euros including VAT (approx $1900). Further details were just made available on the Lewihe website as we approach the 3D Print Show at Carrousel Du Louvre, in Paris France.
