3D Printing & Healthcare: #3DTalk New York Panel to Discuss Medical 3D Printing

3D printing has been making a huge impact on the medical field over the last few years. The technology has worked its way into every nearly area of healthcare, saving lives and reducing pain. 3D printed anatomical models are allowing surgeons to plan their operations ahead of time, giving them a better idea of how to achieve their objective and shortening the amount of time the patient is on the table. 3D printed, customized implants are allowing patients better fit and more comfort, and 3D bioprinting is creating living tissue for pharmaceutical testing and maybe eventual implantation. Several organizations are even working on 3D printing medications.

Those are just a few examples of the ways 3D printing is impacting healthcare; to talk about them all would take hours, and entire conferences have been dedicated to individual areas of medical 3D printing and business implications. Next month, #3DTalk will be holding an event centered around 3D printing in healthcare – specifically the role of 3D printing in visualization and surgical planning.

#3DTalk is a series of events that was put together by Women in 3D Printing, an organization dedicated to supporting women in the 3D printing field, and Cyant, an education-focused company that leverages technology and the arts to create learning tools. Both organizations are owned and led by women, and #3DTalk features women from 3D printing and related fields sharing their experiences and opinions in a series of panels dedicated to a particular theme. We recently saw the first #3DTalk Birmingham, held at TCT Show 2017, focusing on materials development.

On November 9th, #3DTalk will be presenting #3DTalk New York – 3D Printing in Healthcare. This will be the third #3DTalk to be held in New York; earlier this year, the organization presented a panel in New York on 3D printing and design, for which 3DPrint.com was a media sponsor. This panel will focus on visualization, education and planning, and how 3D printing is changing those parts of healthcare. Discussion will cover the new opportunities 3D printing is creating for medical professionals, as well as how it is changing patient outcomes.

3DPrint.com is proud to partner with #3DTalk again as a media sponsor for this event, which is taking place from 6:30 to 9:00 PM ET at the NYU Langone Medical Center. The panel will be moderated by Barbara Hanna, PhD, the Founder of Cyant, and Nora Touré, Founder of Women in 3D Printing. Panelists include:

The panel itself, plus a Q&A session, will take place from 6:45 to 7:45, and will be followed by a networking reception. This will be a great opportunity to learn more about some of the most frequent applications of 3D printing in medicine from some experts in the field, and to hear from some prominent women working in the field of 3D printing and healthcare. #3DTalk holds sessions all over the world on all sorts of topics relating to 3D printing, so if you can’t make this one, stay tuned for others to be coming up soon.
