Nano Dimension has news for all the printed circuit board (PCB) manufacturing aficionados out there. How would you like to have more control over the creation and production of your boards? How would you like to shorten the amount of time it takes to make a circuit board? What if you could make them in-house, eliminating intellectual property concerns, as well as the inconvenience and expense of having them produced by a third party?
Nano Dimension 3D PCB Printer
This can all come true, thanks to a $500,000 grant given to Israel-based Nano Dimension on October 1st by The Israeli Office of the Chief Scientist, which is a government office that works to boost innovation in industry, and research and design by providing grants to entrepreneurs and companies so they can further their development. Based in Jerusalem, the Israeli Office of the Chief Scientist is part of the Ministry of Economy. Nano Dimension also has an exclusive license to use silver nano-particle processes developed by the renowned Prof. Magadassi and patented by Yissum, the Hebrew University’s technology transfer company.
With the grant, and the company’s experience in designing sophisticated ink-jet printing systems, Nano Dimension foresees “that electronics will never be the same again,” with the development of the first professional quality desktop 3D printer for multi-layer circuit boards (PCBs). They will also be creating a collection of conductive nano-silver inks along with novel insulating and substrate inks. In an effort to bring rapid prototyping to the PCB industry, the Nano Dimension PCB Jet printer is meant to perform as an accurate and versatile inkjet deposition tool for printed multi-layer circuit boards at your own home or office—and according to Nano, this will all be “as quick and simple as printing a photo.”
