Graphene 3D Lab Signs MoU with AzTrong to Achieve Commercial Production of High-Performance Graphene Products

In January, New-York based Graphene 3D Lab penned a letter to its shareholders that listed its 2016 accomplishments, such as its new G6-IMPACT graphene composite material, new ultra-light graphene foam, and the establishment of its Industrial Materials Division. In addition, the letter also highlighted some of its goals for 2017, which include advancing its graphene materials toward commercialization, offering new materials, and establishing collaborations with other large industrial organizations. It looks like the company is right on track with this last goal, as it just announced that it has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with AzTrong, Inc. (AzT).

Material provider AzT is focused on cost-effective technology that can be used for the mass production of quality composite and graphene products in powder, film, and ink format for graphene-based solutions and applications. The company’s overarching vision is to leverage graphene materials in order to create a high value chain for the Smart Life solution and services.

AzT has large-scale manufacturing facilities in both the US and Taiwan, and has developed multiple recipes and dispersion methods for GO/rGO composites for supercapacitor, electronics, lithium-ion battery, and biomedical applications. The functionalization process AzT uses for its graphene products can be optimized to make multiple surface modifications and coatings, and it produces a capacity of 50-3000 tons of graphene annually, so its customers can seize emerging opportunities by combining the company’s quality production with reliability, stability, and customization.

The MoU lays out the terms of the future Strategic Alliance Agreement between the two, which obviously center around graphene; last year, it was projected to be one of the most used materials for the future production of next-generation consumer electronics and computers.

“I am very excited about the opportunities arising from our strategic partnership with AzTrong Inc. We believe that this partnership is key to the successful commercialization of graphene products,” said Graphene 3D Co-CEO Dr. Daniel Stolyarov. “So far, the market penetration of our products was hindered by the lack of manufacturing capabilities in our Calverton, NY facility. That is why we are delighted to find a reliable business partner who will assist us in implementing our ideas for new products at the commercial scale.”

In an effort to achieve cost-effective commercial production of performance-improving products, obviously based on graphene, the Alliance will use Graphene 3D’s large customer base and wide IP portfolio, coupled with AzT’s large-scale manufacturing base, which has a strong infrastructure in Taiwan and the US due to its facilities in the two countries. The production of quality graphene products will focus on the automotive, construction, defense, and energy storage sectors.

Graphene 3D will, subject to the finalized agreement, keep developing formulations, taking quality control measurements, and conducting tests for graphene-related products. While AzT will be taking on large-scale manufacturing for these products, Graphene 3D will share its graphene product marketing knowledge.

Kuan-Tsae Huang, CEO of AzTrong, Inc., said, “Working together with Graphene 3D will help us expand and diversify our offering for graphene products. As a leading supplier of graphene and graphene-based products, we are confident that our manufacturing capabilities, coupled with the broad expertise of Graphene 3D Lab will facilitate accelerated new product introductions that offer our customers new and novel graphene products.”

Both companies, including Graphene 3D’s BlackMagic3D web-store and its e-commerce platform Graphene Supermarket, will distribute the new graphene products. Discuss in the Graphene 3D Lab forum at 3DPB.com.
