INTAMSYS Presents the Affordable, Industrial-Grade FUNMAT HT Desktop 3D Printer at RAPID + TCT

One of the most talked-about materials in plastic 3D printing right now is PEEK. Polyether ether ketone is a strong, durable polymer whose robust yet lightweight properties make it extremely popular in manufacturing, particularly for industries such as aerospace and automotive. It’s a difficult material to 3D print, however, in part because of the very attributes that make it so appealing – particularly, because it’s so resistant to high temperatures, which means it’s a challenge to extrude, especially for desktop 3D printers.

Lately, however, 3D printer manufacturers have begun developing lower-cost printers capable of 3D printing not only PEEK, but other high temperature, industrial-grade polymers as well. That’s been cause for a great deal of excitement for manufacturers, who are now being offered new options for creating functional prototypes as well as end-use parts. The latest company to unveil a PEEK-capable desktop 3D printer is INTAMSYS, a Shanghai-based manufacturer known for the FUNMAT series of 3D printers.

In November, INTAMSYS attended formnext and presented the soft launch of the new FUNMAT HT, an affordable desktop 3D printer capable of printing with PEEK as well as other high-performance materials such as PEI and PC. The printer was well-received, and this week INTAMSYS is fully launching the FUNMAT HT at RAPID + TCT.

“When we started INTAMSYS 3 years back, we had a long brainstorming session on what our vision and mission should be,” said Charles Han, CEO of INTAMSYS. “We took stock of the industry’s past, present and future and realized that to make 3D Printing a viable alternative to traditional manufacturing, we need to come up with machines that can print functional materials at affordable prices. FUNMAT HT was the outcome of that session, one and only functional material 3D Printer that is within $5000 price range. Our entire 3 year journey is directed towards achieving this.”

A heated build chamber, along with an extruder that reaches temperatures up to 400°C, allows for easy 3D printing of functional materials. Specifications include:

The initial reception to the FUNMAT HT has been enthusiastic – more so than the company even expected when they first introduced the printer at formnext.

“When we launched the machine, we didn’t expect the kind of response we received. There was a lot of interest in the machine and experts from varied industries gave us a lot of valuable feedback,” said Raja Upputuri, Marketing Director at INTAMSYS. “We took all that feedback and launched an improved version. The new features dramatically reduce print failure rate and enhance overall PEEK 3D Printing experience. We hope this machine finds increased usage in aerospace, medical and automobile industries where functional materials are essential.”

Affordability is key in getting industries to adopt new machines and materials, and INTAMSYS makes affordability and accessibility major priorities. The FUNMAT HT is one of four 3D printers that INTAMSYS currently offers, along with the FUNMAT, the FUNMAT Pro, and the FUNMAT Pro HT. The company also sells a wide range of filaments. If you’re at RAPID and you’d like to check out the FUNMAT HT in person, you can visit INTAMSYS’ booth, #926, to learn more. 3DPrint.com is currently at RAPID, and we’ll be stopping by and taking a look at the new machine and telling you more about this young and growing company.
