Recently we have covered one of Italy’s most prominent manufacturers of 3D printers, Sharebot, who has recently announced the release of several new printers coming to market very soon, including FFF, SLA and even SLS based machines. Now, yet another Italian manufacturer has begun selling quite an interesting new FFF based 3D printer.
KTech, has created the KTech Genesis 3D Printer, which is built with 100% aluminum. Everything from the anodized aluminum unibody, to the mechanical parts are made up of Italian produced aluminum, which gives it a lightweight, sturdy feel. The printer, which comes in either gray or black, is priced at 2200€, and is available for purchase immediately.
One of the issues that many people have when printing with ABS at home, is the potentially toxic fumes that are given off. KTech has this covered with a built-in HEPA filter that filters out harmful fumes, specifically that of ABS plastic, from the heated build chamber. Here are some specifications of this 3D printer:
- Print Volume: 200 mm L x 200 mm W x 194 mm H – 7760 cm cubic
- Resolution: 100 microns
- Filament Diameter: 1.75 mm
- Nozzle Diameter: 0.4mm
- Compatible Files: STL & Gcode
- Build Plate: Heated glass
- Positioning precision XY: 15.9 microns
- Positioning accuracy Z: 1 micron
- Product Weight: 16 Kg
- Product Dimensions: 37.9 x 38.9 x H 60 cm
This certainly won’t be the last 3D printer to come out of Italy, but it may be one of the higher quality machines available today. KTech plans to be at MakerFaire Rome next week, showing the Genesis 3D printer off first hand.
What do you think? Do you like the idea of having a HEPA filter on a 3D printer? What do you think of the aluminum built frame and mechanical parts? Discuss this printer in the KTech Genesis 3D Printer forum thread on 3DPB.com.
