Known for manufacturing 3D printers, materials, and offering other products and services, ExOne was founded in 2005, as a spinoff from Extrude Hone Corporation, a global supplier and developer of precision nontraditional machining processes and automated systems that has been in business for over half a century. ExOne has headquarters all over the world, to include Europe and Asia. US operations are in the spotlight currently, however, as ExOne intends to ‘refocus’ their industrial 3D printing practices in the US.
With added emphasis on their industrial sand core and mold binder jet 3D printing services, ExOne will be expanding their existing production service centers in Troy, Michigan and Houston, Texas, along with integrating some 3D printing operations from their North Las Vegas production service center. The company also plans to discontinue its non-core Machin-A-Mation specialty machining operation in Chesterfield, Michigan.
ExOne detailed these latest developments in a recent announcement, outlining plans for a wider range of:
- Binder and material sets offerings
- Cold hardening phenolic and sodium silicate production
- Machine platforms and machine options
- Material development services
- Technical and training services
“We completed a market assessment of where we stand with industrial customers’ desires for binder jet 3D printing. We see the North American market adoption rate of sand printing technology accelerating. Contributing to this, our S-Max platform, which has been designed with an expanded binder and base material configuration, is well positioned for growth in this area. Our goal with the EACs is to create the proper support and service structure to ensure we sustain the market’s momentum,” said ExOne CEO Jim McCarley.”
All of these latest plans center around advancing their binder jet printing operations further, with McCarley addressing that further:
“At ExOne, our goal is to rapidly and effectively accelerate the adoption rate of binder jet printing, which we believe will in turn expand our addressable market. The actions announced today are the first steps in building a structure that will be better equipped to demonstrate our latest advancements in binders and materials, provide more robust training services and allow us to interact more closely with our customers and their applications of binder jet printing.”
ExOne plans to offer further details on these new plans as they are put into action throughout the year, along with filing a current report on Form 8-K, dated January 30, 2017 in regards to these new developments. Find out more about ExOne here. Discuss in the ExOne forum at 3DPB.com.
