2016 Frost & Sullivan Singapore Excellence Awards: Osteopore International Wins 3D Scaffolds Entrepreneurial Company of the Year Award

Osteopore International recognizes that people are living longer, and this trend should only continue to accelerate—especially with the significant strides they are offering in the medical field and, specifically, in the world of implants. As innovators and experts in creating scaffolding, the Singapore-based company has a constant vision for the future as they continue to engineer 3D printed scaffolds. Now, their efforts have been further recognized by the 2016 Frost & Sullivan Singapore Excellence Awards with the 3D Scaffolds Entrepreneurial Company of the Year Award in the Transformational Healthcare category.

Awards are granted from Frost & Sullivan as they look toward those who have pushed the limits of innovation as well as “demonstrating outstanding performance in the Singapore market.” Those awarded have been recognized as companies that stand out as best in class within their specific industries, based on an extensive analysis that included interviews and research by the Frost & Sullivan team. They also examine prospective awardees in terms of:

For this particular award, however, Frost & Sullivan considered two things. They looked at the amount of entrepreneurial innovation Osteopore International offers in terms of market disruption, competitive differentiation, market gaps, Blue Ocean Strategy and passionate persistence. They also then examined customer impact, to include price/performance value, customer purchase experience, customer ownership experience, customer service experience and brand equity.

One feature that allowed Osteopore to stand apart significantly was that their 3D printed scaffolding encourages the healing of tissue within the human body as well as regeneration.

“The technology comprises novel biomimetic and bioresorbable 3-D printed microstructure implants that can be efficiently used across neurological, craniofacial, maxillofacial, orthopaedic, spinal and dental applications,” said Ms. Vandana Iyer, Research Analyst at Frost & Sullivan. “The company’s innovative 3D scaffold technology also has the potential to address the rising incidence of bone-related injuries and may transform the global bone graft market that is currently valued at around USD5 billion.”

The company created their platform for the 3D scaffolds in 1999, with all fabrication today being performed in-house with 3D printers that afford Osteopore International the opportunities for customization required in medical devices that must fit perfectly within the body to encourage regeneration of tissue.

“Osteopore is proud to receive the 2016 Singapore 3D Scaffolds Entrepreneurial Company of the Year Award from Frost & Sullivan. The award is a testament to our vision and ability to transform healthcare with Singapore’s developed medical device technology,” said Mr. Goh Khoon Seng, Chief Executive Officer, Osteopore International.

“Our company has been harnessing 3D printing technology to design, develop and manufacture implantable devices that facilitate natural tissue regeneration, and has delivered successful clinical outcome over the past 10 years.  This technology has the potential to minimize or eliminate late morbidity and re-surgery thus reducing cost for healthcare payers and patients.”

Known as world leaders for their 3D printed implants, Osteopore International works with a range of other researchers globally as they create new products and solutions for patients that are much needed, more affordable, allow for better patient outcomes, and help people around the world look forward to a better quality of life.
