The Dutch company released the FELIX Pro 1 towards the end of last year, marking the launch of their new line of professional desktop printers after their success with the award-winning FELIX 3.1 upgradeable DIY 3D printer. The Pro 2 retains the user-friendliness, ease of use and overall quality of the Pro 1, while adding several new features to make the user experience even more simple and stress-free.
Christiaan Rijnhart, Marketing Specialist at FELIXprinters, told 3DPrint.com that the FELIX Pro 2 is the next step towards a complete 3D printing ecosystem. In addition to integrated Wi-Fi connectivity that allows the Pro 2 to store and queue print jobs and act as its own hotspot, users can enjoy cloud-based printer sharing and remote printer control through the online platform Formide, which was launched in 2014 by the 3D printing solutions provider Printr.
“It’s not about mechanics, it’s about making it easier for the users,” Rijnhart told us. “We teamed up with Printr and have been working with them from the very beginning.”
The FELIX Pro 2 now includes a 4.3″ capacitive touch display, which allows users to easily control, monitor and even receive instant feedback on their print jobs. The display also includes video tutorials on how to use the printer, making setup faster. In addition, an upgrade has been made to the printer’s easily swappable, dual full-metal hotends, which can reach temperatures of 275°C (520°F) and allow for simple, streamlined multi-color and multi-material printing.
“From the very beginning we’ve been a very technical company,” Rijinhart added. “We’re focusing now on making 3D printing as easy as possible.”
Other highlights of the Pro 2 include a detachable build plate, automatic print bed calibration and filament detection, pre-configured slicing profiles, printfarm mode, and an intelligent dual printhead system. At a sound level of 34 decibels, the Pro 2 is also a quiet printer, perfect for offices or educational settings.
“We noticed there is a growing demand for professional FDM 3D printers which can handle multiple materials, is easy to operate and contains multiple connectivity options,” said FELIXprinters CEO Guillaume Feliksdal. “With these desires in mind we have designed a machine that focusses on ease of use. It allows customers to use their time to concentrate on what they are printing instead of how to operate the printer.”
The FELIX Pro 2 will shortly be available for pre-order at €2,599. Below are a few more images of the FELIX Pro 2 and the FELIXprinters TCT booth:
