But from the moustache to the mutton chops, how are they keeping all this facial hair looking good for the ladies? Even with a teenage son who is wildly thrilled at the idea of growing a beard, the thought of how men take care of such things had never crossed my mind. The Fully Bearded team, however, obviously knows what they are talking about from experience, and they have put careful consideration and design effort into helping all of your bearded ones to manage all that glorious (or not) ‘manstuff growing out of your face.’
While you are probably expecting another dapper little comb or some clippers, Fully Bearded has created something that looks like a cross between a Sons of Anarchy gang weapon and a high-tech gadget. The frame is indeed rugged, featuring large holes for four fingers that allows for extra comfort, with perfectly spaced and curved teeth, meaning that grooming is achieved without discomfort.
And yes, ‘this fistful of attitude’ was even 3D printed as they created their prototypes, then moved on to casting the actual products which feature pure comfort and of course—plenty of attitude.
The Knuckled Comb was developed by three bearded friends, Neil Ward, Dustin Keiswetter and Shaun Kibbe.
“I wanted a unique Christmas gift for my bearded brother; he got one of the first basic versions. Our team decided to give it some style and many revisions later we got to where we are today,” said Keiswetter.
Once 3D printed and fully tested, the comb was made from urethane poured into a mold that is currently handmade. By launching their Kickstarter campaign (ending on September 29th), the team hopes to raise $25,500 for manufacturing purposes. They are dedicated to having the Knuckled Combs made completely in the US and are planning to use the Kickstarter funds for creating a professional metal mold for the production line, to be injected with Delrin acetal, meant to produce a high-quality, durable product. They have made 20 prototypes so far.
“We have multiple options for manufacturing. The best ones are currently in place and on standby, ready to start producing comb parts,” says the Fully Bearded team. “Also, with this comb being made entirely in the USA, we have the ability to visit our manufacturers to ensure their quality and accuracy. Once the manufacturing is complete, we have a team of dedicated family and friends in place to hand assemble, inspect, and carefully package each comb for an on-time shipment!”
Early birds can get it in on the Knuckled Comb for just $12—a great savings off the retail price which is set to be around $22. If you miss the early bird special, you’ll still be able to back the campaign and receive a comb for $16 and up, and if you pledge $21 or more, you also receive the one-ounce bottle of beard oil. This has got to be one of the up and coming best gift ideas of the year. Now we just need to deal with those man buns! Discuss this new product over in the 3D Printed Knuckled Comb forum at 3DPB.com.
