3Data Expert, designed specifically for manufacturing engineers, is a straightforward solution for the preparation of 3D models, both surface and faceted. It’s a thorough system, with tools for STL file verification, repair and offsetting along with surface triangulation, splitting, connecting, smoothing, decimation, Boolean, model texturing, and painting. The newly released Version 10.3 includes a few critical updates.
Among the new features is a “Solidify” command, a shrink-wrapping tool suitable for the final preparation of color models. It lends itself well to even the most complex architectural models and complements existing features like automated and manual error repair and editing. There’s also a new 3D nesting tool, plus the biggest – and possibly most welcome – change, a newly developed automated support structure generator.
“DeskArtes 3Data Expert 10.3 adds tools for end user part manufacturing with user friendly pricing,” said Ismo Mäkelä, CEO of DeskArtes. “New Solidify command allows to prepare most difficult architectural 3D models for 3D Printing and 3D Nesting and Support Structure generator will allow efficient end user part manufacturing with metal, DLP and stereolithography processes.”
The modular Expert Series 10.3 also includes:
- 3Data Expert Lite, a more basic version of 3Data Expert that includes the most commonly needed tools for file processing, including model splitting, connecting and text tagging
- Dimensions Expert, similar to Expert Lite, is a simple and user-friendly tool that enables STL file repair and splitting for printers with smaller build areas
- View Expert, a free, entry-level program for the checking and repairing of CAD/CAM files. Optional paid versions include more advanced tools for color printing
- Sim Expert, created for the design of simulation software products, includes triangle count reduction and triangle aspect ration improvement tools. New 10.3 features include improved standard and native CAD input and triangulation functions.
