There’s Still Time! Register for Free August 4th Webinar on 3D Printing Technologies Presented by 3DPrint.com and Formlabs

fdmslaslsOne thing I like about working for 3DPrint.com is the fact that while we’re a news site, we’re not just a news site. Our goal is to provide our readers with the most comprehensive coverage of the 3D printing industry possible, and lately we’ve been branching out by offering some educational services as well. In June we partnered with Body Labs for an informative webinar on 3D body imaging and its use in the footwear and apparel industry, and in just two days we’ll be hosting our second webinar, this time presented by Formlabs.

Entitled “How to Choose the Right 3D Printing Technology – FDM vs SLA vs SLS,” the webinar will take place on August 4 at 1:00 PM EST. Yes, it’s right in the middle of the workday for many people, but don’t let that stop you from registering – even if you can’t tune in at that time, all those who register will receive a recording via email shortly after the webinar concludes. There’s no cost to register, so you’re getting a free class!

If you have a 3D printer, are shopping for a 3D printer, or are even entertaining vague, dreamy thoughts about one day using a 3D printer, this webinar is for you. Even experienced 3D printing professionals will likely learn something new, because there’s nothing simple about trying to pick one 3D printing technology over another – particularly when it comes to fused deposition modeling (FDM), stereolithography (SLA), and selective laser sintering (SLS).

Three of the most commonly used 3D printing technologies today, FDM, SLA and SLS share many similarities, but it’s their differences that are the key to making the right choice for your needs. No one method is perfect for every application, so deciding what kind of 3D printer you’re going to buy requires a lot of careful thought and weighing of pros and cons. Before making any major purchase, it’s crucial to be well-informed about what you’re buying, and 3D printers are no exception.

Luckily, if you’re trying to better understand the differences between 3D printing technologies, there are few better resources to turn to than Formlabs. The young company will forever be known as the organization that brought SLA 3D printing to the desktop, thanks to the 2012 introduction of the Form 1 SLA desktop 3D printer, the first of its kind. Formlabs opened the door to a whole new market, and several other companies have developed their own SLA desktop printers since then, but the Form 1 (now the Form 1+) remains the best-selling SLA desktop 3D printer in the world.

Formlabs knows 3D printers and their applications inside and out, as their products’ reach extends to industries as diverse as engineering, dentistry, jewelry and art. If you’re stuck trying to figure out what kind of printer is best for a particular application, they’re the ones to tell you.

Need more incentive to register? You’ll also have a chance to win a custom 3D print and a T-shirt. Simply register here, then think about the challenges you’ve come across while shopping for a 3D printer. Share those challenges on Facebook or Twitter with the hashtag #Choosing3D and include a link to the webinar (you can use the shortened URL bit.ly/2aAx00w). The winner will be announced during the webinar. Discuss further over in the 3DPrint.com/Formlabs 3D Tech Webinar forum over at 3DPB.com.
