If you are obsessed with 3D printing, like myself (maybe one or two of you out there), then you already have your entire September 26th planned out. I intend to finish work a bit early, skip the gym, and then convince my fiance to sit back with some popcorn and watch the one hour and forty minute documentary about two of the most interesting startup companies within the 3D printing space.
With that said, for those of you in the San Francisco area with some free time to spare this afternoon, I envy you. John Biggs, a writer for Techcrunch who professionally covers all the 3D printing news within the industry, is hosting an advanced screening of the film at the Techcrunch Disrupt Venue, Pier 48, from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM local time. Following the film, Biggs will be hosting a 15 minute discussion panel about the documentary with J. Clay Tweel, Walter Kortschak, and Andrew Kortschak.
The advanced screening, being presented by both TechCrunch and Netflix, is coming just days after MakerBot announced that one of the stars of the film, their Co-founder and CEO Bre Pettis, would be stepping down as their CEO, in order to head up a new division within parent company Stratasys.
For those who are interested in the much anticipated documentary, as well as a chance to possibly meet one of the directors, and two of the producers of the film, the event is free. Just register at the Eventbrite page.
If you are like me and can’t make it across the country in four hours flat, then the good news is that the film will be in theaters in both New York City and Los Angeles, as well as on Netflix, in a few short weeks. If you do attend the event, please let us know what you thought of the film in the ‘Print The Legend’ forum thread on 3DPB.com.
