They’ve continued the magic, a wonderful thing, releasing new filaments this year that offer all the benefits of PLA and ABS without any of the drawbacks, and expanding the rather famous limitations of both materials. And if you’re a jealous competitor out there who just can’t stop yourself from reading about M3D, one of today’s industry golden children, hide your eyes right now because not only did they experience record growth this year (no surprise), but they are also releasing a new printer, the M3D Pro, being announced at CE Week in New York, running June 21-23.
Known as an event for those in the industry looking to create a buzz, M3D is using the mid-year industry show to their advantage. With the unveiling of the Pro, users are learning about another affordable printer from the Fulton, Maryland-headquartered company. At $500, the Pro is meant to create the perfect blend between the commercial and consumer printer. Offering the expected user-friendly platform and accessibility, the Pro is actually the result and response of customer feedback.
The M3D pro has a heated bed, a larger build volume, and users can look forward to printing 3D models at heights of 7.8”. According to M3D, this will be the most space-efficient printer on the market at 10.5” cubed.
“Every hardware component within M3D’s newest model was built to optimize efficiency and accuracy while maintaining its inherent accessibility and affordability, simplifying the process of taking a 3D file to a 3D print for consumers and professionals alike,” states the company in their latest press release.
Driven by two ARM-core processors and more than two dozen sensors, this powerful new machine is able to offer high performance while also promising more consistency and reliability to the users.
Monitoring includes:
- Multiple measurements of speed
- Filament usage
- Temperature
- Power levels
Not only that—for all users who live in areas with frequent power outages, the M3D is able to save all of its data as power begins to dwindle.
Features include:
- Heated print bed – A tempered glass surface automatically adjusts temperature, providing consistent 3D printing without any adhesion or sticking issues
- Large build volume – You can print objects up to 7.8” tall or 7.2” x 7.2” wide
- Embedded recovery – the M3D Pro is able to recover from print failures like outages, pauses, and filament shortage or jams, with saved data
- Standalone mode – M3D’s software automatically starts printing, and will transfer print jobs to an internal memory chip, allowing for continuous standalone printing
- Advanced sensor network – with the world’s first dual-ARM processor system, the Pro fuses data from more than two dozen sensors to provide industry leading consistency and reliability
- Construction – includes precision ground metal components, glass surface heated bed, and durable ABS frame
- Accuracy: 25-350 micron layer heights, 0.40 mm nozzle extrusion
- Print speed: typically prints filament at 60mm/s, and travels at speeds up to 120 mm/s
- Third party filaments – compatible with all industry standard 1.75 mm filaments, including particle-filled materials and high-temperature materials (up to 270 C)
- Third party applications – Accepts standard G-codes, making it compatible with most 3rd party applications
- Free M3D software: Available on Windows and Mac
