A Smashing Success! SLASH Kickstarter Campaign Concludes at Over 1,000% of Funding Goal — Pre-Orders Starting Now

da18863e424613b9d732725db7bb5ffc_originalWe have been tracking the progress of the SLASH 3D printer since before it even hit Kickstarter. The super-fast SLA printer was already generating a lot of excitement at CES 2016 back in January, and once the Kickstarter campaign started, it surpassed its funding goal in a matter of hours. And then it just kept going. And going. And…you get the idea. If you couldn’t tell, we’ve been pretty excited about this printer, and now, as the Kickstarter draws to a close, we can start getting even more excited as full production and shipment of the SLASH begin.

As the SLASH soared past its funding goals, reaching 400% and 500% within days, we predicted that it wasn’t going to slow down anytime soon – and it certainly didn’t. At the conclusion of the campaign, the SLASH has drawn in a total of $571,926 – over 1,100% of its $50,000 original goal. With those kinds of numbers, the team from Uniz Technology, the San Diego startup behind the printer, found themselves actually adding rewards mid-campaign as the original stretch goals shattered like glass under a bulldozer. A fourth stretch goal was added once $520,000 was reached, offering backers a monthly supply of coupons for resin purchased from the Uniz website. A separate 405nm LED module can be purchased at retail for $499, but as a second part of the stretch goal, backers will be receiving a single-use coupon to get the module at a massively discounted $99.

In addition to the last-minute stretch goal, a “double bird” reward option was created, giving backers two of everything for a reduced cost, and pledge amounts were reduced for one of the highest-level rewards. I don’t know if even Uniz could have predicted what a runaway success the SLASH would be, and they’re obviously thrilled and are making it clear how much they appreciate the 552 backers who supported the campaign. With so much of a surplus of funds, the team can afford to give their backers plenty of extra, and they’re doing so.

The end of the campaign also means that the SLASH printer is now available for pre-order, for those of us who didn’t jump in on the Kickstarter. For a limited time, Uniz has reduced the price of the printer from $1999 to $1299 – the same amount that was offered to supporters who pledged at the “Fortune Finder” level. Orders can be placed at the Uniz website, and if you have any questions about your order or difficulty paying, you can email the team at sales@uniz3d.com.

Production of the printers is underway, and Uniz will be providing updates about their progress on the Kickstarter page. Delivery for early bird rewards is estimated for December, while standard backers can expect their printers in February. Coupons for the LED module and resin will go out in early May, so keep an eye on your mailboxes.

We’ve enjoyed covering this remarkable campaign over the course of the last month, and we will continue to follow Uniz Technology as the SLASH goes into full production – and we greatly look forward to seeing what may come next for this innovative young company.
