XYZprinting Releases the da Vinci Pro 1.0 3-in-1 – 3D Printer, Scanner and Laser Engraver All in One

And the award for “Busiest Company of 2016 So Far” goes to XYZprinting. While many companies introduce new printers at CES, XYZ announced at this year’s show that they would be releasing a whopping seven new 3D printers in 2016 – plus accessories, apps, and a brand new STEAM curriculum program. Prepare yourselves now for seeing their name a lot this year as these new products roll out, and if they keep up this kind of momentum, there’s going to be a lot more to come.

Today marks the official release of one of those new printers. The da Vinci 1.0 Pro 3-in-1 is XYZ’s contribution to the growing number of multipurpose 3D printers on the market, featuring a built-in high resolution 3D scanner along with an optional laser engraver. It also has the capability of printing with any PLA or ABS material, eschewing proprietary filament.

“Our aim at XYZprinting has always been to break down the barriers to the world of 3D printing and enable the maker revolution,” said XYZprinting CEO Simon Shen. “The da Vinci 1.0 Pro 3in1 is the next step towards achieving this and helping our users to bring their visions to life exactly as they want them – it’s the ultimate offering for personalisation.”

The integrated scanner includes a 360-degree automatic rotating platform and dual-laser scanning technology. It’s extremely user-friendly; automatic imaging takes only five minutes, and the incorporated software automatically converts multi-angle scans into one image. The printer itself features an aluminum print bed for even heat distribution, an easily changeable extruder, wireless connectivity, and an intuitive calibration system. The revamped XYZ Pro software includes improved slicing speeds and is compatible with third party g-codes; it also manages your laser engraver design and settings.

The da Vinci 1.0 Pro 3-in-1 is retailing for £729; the optional laser engraver, which has an engraving area of 20 x 20 cm and can easily be swapped for the extruder, is an additional £99. At the moment, it appears that the 3-in-1 is only available in Europe. XYZprinting’s US division currently carries the da Vinci 1.0 Pro, which retails for $699 (laser engraver $199) and carries the same features minus the built-in scanner. I suspect the 3-in-1 will be available in the United States at some point, so keep an eye on their website.

Keep watching for the official releases of XYZ’s other products this year, as well. Beyond their plethora of new 3D printing and scanning products, they’re also moving into the robotics and wearables markets; it appears that XYZ is riding high on their success in the 3D printing industry and is poised to take over the rest of the tech world as well.
