I think it is fair to say that 3D printing could almost be considered a mainstream technology. In the last six months alone, we have seen a tremendous amount of media attention directed towards all sorts of 3D printing
To further support the conclusion of mainstream adoption, one of the more popular rock bands of the past 18 years, Linkin Park has just made themselves available to fans via 3D printing.
We have all seen various companies print out 3D figurines in the likeness of individuals. We’ve even seen companies offer to put your face on a superhero. I think there is just something about being able to hold a replica of yourself in your hands, and then showing off that aesthetic beauty to friends and family.
Through a partnership with a German based company called Staramba, Linkin Park is offering figurines for sale of themselves for their fans. Staramba had scanned each band member, in Berlin, back in June, and has announced these incredibly detailed collectibles for the bands Carnivores Tour, which is currently ongoing. Staramba, offers fans several different options, varying in price and size. To start, all of the current band members are available individually. They include:
- Mike Shinoda – vocals, keyboards, piano, rhythm guitar
- Chester Bennington – vocals
- Rob Bourdon – percussion, drums
- Brad Delson – lead guitar, keyboards
- Dave Farrell “Phoenix” – bass guitar, backing vocals
- Joe Hahn “Mr. Hahn” – keyboards, backing vocals, turntables, samples, programming
Each band member is available in 1:5 scale and 1:10 scale. The 1:5 scale figurines measure approximately 15 inches in height, weigh around 30 oz, and will run you $499 a piece. Theses are printed in limited
Staramba 3D prints all the figurines from a high-quality polymer clay, layer by layer, in full color. All figurines come in a lavish gift box with a certificate of authenticity. Products will be shipped within 14 days of purchase, via FedEx. Are you Linkin Park fan? Have you ordered any of the band members? Let’s hear what you think about this creative type of band memorabilia in the 3D Printed Linkin Park forum thread on 3DPB.com.
