It’s the American dream…. To go to outer space… well for some of us at least it is.
The 163-year-old company, specializing in cosmetics for both men and women, is looking for a bit of publicity, while also giving us all something to shoot for. They are giving away $1250 in gift certificates, and the grand prize winner will have their face 3D printed onto a figurine with a space suit. Kiehls will then strap that figurine of your likeness to a meteorological balloon which will make its way up to space, before eventually deflating and coming down. At that point, they will collect the remains of the balloon and ship your space-traveled figurine straight to your doorstep.
To enter the contest it’s simple. All you have to do is follow these rules:
- Take a ‘zero gravity’ photo of yourself, which is basically a photo where you are seemingly floating in space
- Like Kiehl’s on Facebook and Instagram
- Post Your Photo on both Facebook and Instagram
- Tag #kiehlssg and #spaceface in all of your posts you make
That’s all the work on your part, for your chance to take home one of 11 prizes which are as follows:
- Grand Prize (1 prize) – $250 Kiehl’s gift certificate, and a 3D printed figurine of yourself sent to space
- Runners Up (10 Prizes) – $100 Kiehl’s gift certificate
Make sure you enter the contest before the end of this month. Winners will be selected and announced on Facebook and Instagram by September 15th. The grand prize winner will be asked to submit photos of themselves for the creation of their 3D printed astronaut figurine, prior to it travelling outside the earth’s atmosphere.
Kielh’s has a short history of sending things up into space via an industrial grade meteorological balloon. Earlier this year they sent up one of their products called ‘Oil Eliminator’ as a bit of a promotional stunt to bring attention to the fact that a key ingredient of the product is a space-age aerogel material, known to many as ‘liquid smoke’.
