They’ve just announced the launch of their Ultem 3D printing service (also known as PEI), formally introducing the ‘super engineering plastic’ to the world. This material is one that should continue over time to duly impress users seeking higher flame retarding and tensile strength, along with other qualities such as:
- Heat resistance
- Abrasion resistance
- Electric insulation
- Sterlization availability
As ROKIT became aware of all the benefits of Ultem, they also realized that as a newer, more specialized filament, it is still somewhat too pricey for most companies or individuals to use on their own. As the South Korean company does have the ability to print with it easily, they realized what a boon this could be for others to take advantage of the service and try the filament out without having to invest in new hardware or large supplies. The team sees it as a ‘formidable opportunity’ for those looking for additional features in materials.
“There are many places where 3D printed Ultem is much appreciated, but because of its high price, small founders, institutes, and small businesses are not getting the benefits of using a 3d printer with Ultem. We are willing to help them by providing affordable Ultem 3D printing service with our machine, AEP.”
The Advanced Engineering Plastic desktop 3D printer is manufactured by ROKIT, and designed specifically to print the specialty filament, as well as PLA and ABS. Capable of rising to very high temperatures, the AEP produces super engineering plastics with very high melting points.
“As a leading global 3D print company, we want to attribute something to the world with what we have. And we think that is Ultem printing service,” says the ROKIT group. “We hope our service will help people to make their business grow.”
The development team at ROKIT adds that the material has also recently been used for items such as the blade for a green vegetable juicer, and even eyewear frames.
