iMakr Announces New CEO: Eric Savant Poised to “Blaze New Trails in the 3D Industry”

When iMakr was founded in 2012, they were a small, unknown startup, but it didn’t take long for them to become a household name in the 3D printing industry. More than just a manufacturer, iMakr has become known for their two large 3D printing stores, based in London and New York, which serve as showcases, retail locations, education centers, and more. After three successful years in business, the company has announced that a new CEO has been hired to lead them into their fourth.

Eric Savant

Eric Savant, a graduate of the Wharton School of Business, is a San Francisco native who has made the United Kingdom his home for nearly 20 years. In 1998, he was hired as Marketing Director for Franklin Mint, a retailer of coins, dolls, and other collectible items. He then moved on to serve as Vice President of Sales and Marketing for Welsh company Adler Manufacturing Limited, which sells high-end business-related products and gifts. Most recently, he formed his own successful startup, essentials4travel, an eCommerce retailer of specialty travel products, where he has acted as Managing Director.

“The skills, experience and spirit that Eric brings to iMakr are exactly what we feel the company needs at this time,” said Sylvain Preumont, iMakr Chairman. “We’ve built a foundation of knowledge in desktop 3D printing and scanning that is the envy of the industry. Eric’s expertise in marketing, eCommerce and branding will provide that added dimension that cements our position as the world’s leading independent 3D printing retailer.”

Savant’s résumé shows that he is no stranger to large endeavors, and his experience will be extremely valuable as he takes on the large empire that iMakr has built in the last three years. In addition to their two brick and mortar retail locations, iMakr maintains a notable online presence. In 2013 they launched their online platform MyMiniFactory, which has been thriving. iMakr also offers scanning services, training, consulting, printer rental, and more, in addition to selling just about every type of printer and accessory you can think of.

“I believe iMakr are a company poised on the cusp of great things,” said Savant. “To be able to join this already successful venture and have the chance to lead it on the next stage of its journey in a burgeoning 3D industry is an incredible opportunity and a challenge I can’t wait to take on.”

An industry like 3D printing grows and evolves so quickly that companies must remain in constant forward motion in order to stay relevant. iMakr shows no signs of slowing down, and clearly intends to stay at the forefront of the industry. It remains to be seen what direction Savant will take the company, but his history shows that he has the experience and drive to, as iMakr states, “blaze new trails in the 3D industry.”
