One of the more exciting companies within the consumer targeted 3D printer space, without a doubt is Solidoodle. Solidoodle, founded in 2011 by an aerospace engineer named Sam Cerantes, has been offering quality 3D
Today that trend continues, as Solidoodle has introduced three new 3D Printers, as well as their very own 3D printing software called SoliPrint. The new printers are the Solidoodle Press, Solidoodle Workbench, and Solidoodle Workbench Apprentice.
Solidoodle Press:
The Solidoodle Press is a dramatic shift from the typical Solidoodle 3D printers you may be used to seeing from this company. The printer, which is almost entirely black, is completely enclosed, making it perfect if you have pets or young children around. Additionally this printer is build with ‘ease of use’ in mind. Just click print, and the object you want to fabricate will be printed. No calibration or messing with settings is required. What’s so incredible about the
- Build Envelope 8″ x 8″ x 8″
- Printer Size: 14.8″ x 14.6″ x 18″
- Layer Resolution: 100-400 micron
- Features: Heated build platform, enclosed print area, anti-tangle filament feeding, Soli-Touch automatic calibration technology
Solidoodle Workbench
This printer is targeted more towards the prosumers out there. Small and large businesses, as well as the typical hobbyist may find this device useful. It is the largest Solidoodle printer yet. With a build envelope of 12″ x 12″ x 12″ it certainly opens up the possibilities for what can be printed. Equipped with dual extruders, and constructed on a steel frame, this machine offers premium

- Printer Size: 21″ x 19.6″ x 18.8″

Solidoodle Workbench Apprentice
If the price of the Workbench is a tad too high, yet you want the quality and features that are built into it, then the Workbench Apprentice may be just what you’re looking for. With a smaller build volume of 6″ x 6″ x 8″, this machine will only cost you $799. This printer has the following specifications:
- Build Envelope: 6″ x 6″ x 8″
- Printer Size: 13.3″ x 15″ x 14″
- Layer Resolution: 100-400 micron
“Solidoodle is committed to making 3D printing accessible for the consumer, and our new product lineup offers more options for the market’s diverse needs,” said Solidoodle CEO Sam Cervantes. “We’ve listened to our customers and developed SoliTouch calibration technology to resolve the biggest issue we’ve seen across the industry with 3D printer calibration. Our new Press 3D printer is designed to fit well in a home or professional environment for users who don’t want to tinker with their machine. However, we recognize that many of our customers do want a more open design and experimental options, which is where our Workbench Series comes in. Built on our classic design, our Workbench Series printers come with standard experimental features and will allow us to offer incremental improvements on machines as they develop and allow for easier installation of repair parts and upgrades for expert users who like to work on their machine.”
Finally, Solidoode will be shipping their new printers with a brand new software called SoliPrint. Solidprint was created to give users the easiest out-of-the-box experience possible. The software can be used along with the SoliTouch calibration system in order to make the 3D printing experience as simple and enjoyable as it should be.
All three new printers are available right away on the Solidoodle website, and will begin shipping out next month. Let us know your thoughts on this major announcement in the Solidoodle Press/Workbench forum thread on 3DPB.com. Check out a video of the Solidoodle Press below:
