One of the internet’s greatest assets is its ability for users to exchange ideas, provide each other with help, and form communities unlike anything possible in the tangible world. When it comes to these exchanges of information, discussion forums have a tendency to prevail in allowing for open discussions of various topics. When it comes to 3D printing, quite frankly there are not too many 3D printing forums on the net. Other than Reddit, the only general 3D printing forum that has really taken hold is one run by 3DPrint.com’s parent company. That forum is 3D Print Board (also known as 3DPB.com), and it launched back in September of 2013 to provide the 3D printing community with a place to discuss anything from the latest at-home hardware, to industrial level machines, 3d printing news, technical help, and various ideas for designs. So far, it has flourished, and today, 3D Print Board has two announcements to make.

Acquisition of New Domain Name

3D Print Board today has finalized the acquisition of the domain name 3DPrintingForum.com. While details of the acquisition remain private, it has been confirmed that the forum, located on the 3DPrintingForum.com domain name previously, will cease to exist, and traffic will be directed to 3D Print Board’s forum.

“We felt that this was a terrific opportunity to pick up a tremendous domain name that happens to go with our development model,” Eddie Krassenstein of 3D Print Board and 3DPrint.com explained. “While we have not decided yet how we will implement this domain name into our business model in the future, for now we will be directing users to our forum (3DPrintBoard.com). We welcome all previous members of 3DPrintingForum.com to join our ever growing community and take part in the informative, yet laid back discussions that take place on our site.”

Launch of Internet’s First 3D Printing Chat Room

Today, 3D Print Board officially launches their 3D printing chat room, which can be found on the homepage of the site as well as on the Chat Room’s Exclusive web page. All members of the forum have permission to take part in the chat, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.  If you aren’t a member, you can sign up for free at any time.

“We felt that no community is complete without the ability to take part in a real-time chat with fellow members,” said Krassenstein. “We have a lot in store as far as what will be featured in the chat room. While it still remains in a beta stage for now, in the future we will schedule chats with many industry insiders, company CEOs, and 3D designers.”

It should be interesting to see how the chat room develops over the course of the next few months, as the 3D printing space continues to grow.
